About Mrs. Burger
Hello! My name is Shelby Burger and I am beyond thrilled to be teaching third grade Math, Science and Social Studies at Canton Intermediate!
I believe that every child deserves to feel known, valued, supported, and loved in the classroom. My goal is create a space where students feel comfortable being themselves, taking risks, asking questions, and celebrating their successes. Getting to know your child -- their interests, strengths, personality, and goals -- is something I am truly looking forward to.
I graduated from Canton High School in 2008. I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree from Baylor University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership degree from Dallas Baptist University. This will be my 13th year in education. I have taught 5th grade and 2nd grade and have worked as an interventionist for 3rd-5th grade. For the last few years, I had the honor of working as the Certification Officer and Assistant Professor for the School of Education at East Texas Baptist University. In this role, alongside the other faculty members, I helped college students through their teacher certification journey and was the liaison between the university, teacher candidates, and the Texas Education Agency. It was an honor to be a part of the journey in preparing future teachers.
I married my husband, Cameron, in December 2014 and we have three amazing boys; Boston (9), and identical twins, Max and Briggs (5). We feel so blessed to be in Canton and to be able to raise our boys in the community that had such a positive impact on me and was such an integral part of what made me who I am today.
