Welcome to Counselor's Corner!

Hello, everyone! My name is Candace Massey, and I am so excited to be the school counselor at Canton Intermediate School! Being in Canton means so much to me. I grew up right here in this community, and I feel incredibly blessed and honored to serve the district that has always been near and dear to my heart. My husband, Chris, and I are so blessed to be raising our girls in this wonderful community we call home.

This school year marks my 20th year in education, and what a journey it has been! I started out teaching math at Canton Junior High School, spent 4 years as the school counselor at Rains Elementary School in Emory, and I am now beginning my 8th year at CIS. I am truly thrilled to be here and to be part of such an amazing team!

As your school counselor, I want you to know that I am here for everyone. Sometimes life brings challenges, big or small, that can make it difficult for students to focus, learn, or simply feel like themselves. If something is going on that may be weighing on your child, please don't hesitate to reach out. I believe every student deserves to feel heard, supported, confident, and capable of success. It is a privilege to help students navigate the ups and downs of growing up, work through challenges, discover their strengths, and find their path forward.

I am looking forward to an amazing year at CIS and can't wait to get to know our students and families!
